Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Announces 2020 Wine Tastings Schedule
Unique fundraiser series accommodates social distancing while supporting local charities

In the age of COVID-19, not-for-profit organizations and other community-minded organizations have been required to search far and wide to develop unique ways to meet their fundraising goals. That includes Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Club, which prides itself on supporting others in the community. In fact, since its' inception in 1987, the Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Foundation has provided more than $2 million in grants to local, regional and international groups embodying Rotary's motto of “Service Above Self.”
In the spirit, Libertyville Sunrise Rotary, in cooperation with Main Street Social, announced it will host four (4) wine tasting fundraiser events this summer, with two (2) each scheduled on August 29th and September 12th. The tasting sessions will be held at 1:00 pm to-2:45 pm and 3:00 pm to 4:45 pm, with each session limited to 50 persons to respect Illinois’ social distancing requirements. The cost to attend $150 per ticket per session, or two (2) tickets for $200. Great news: each ticket includes a $75 credit towards the purchase of wine!
“Due to restrictions regarding size limits for social gatherings, we had to cancel our regular summer fundraiser, the popular North Shore Wine Beer & Cigar Festival,” said Tom Zengeler, President of the local Rotary Chapter. “Thanks to the creative thinking of several dedicated Chapter Members, we came up with the idea to host four smaller events that respect social distancing while helping us raise funds to support a variety of local charities that depend on Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Club for their financial support.”
The wine tastings will be held at Mainstreet Social, located at 608 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Libertyville. Mainstreet Social, an Independent, locally owned and operated restaurant, has partnered with Libertyville Sunrise Rotary’s Northshore Wine Beer & Cigar Festival since they opened in 2017. “Libertyville Rotary Sunrise invites all wine lovers to attend, along with anyone who would like to help our Chapter continue to provide financial support for worthy local organizations,” continued Zengeler. “All sessions are open to the public, with tickets available Online at www.northshorewineandbeerfest.com/shop.”
