11/13/2012 Zengeler Cleaners Commits to Glass Slipper Project For 11th Straight Year
Partnership is on track to pass $10
Million dollars in donations
Northbrook, IL, November 13, 2012: Zengeler Cleaners announced
that they have renewed their 11-year partnership with the Glass
Slipper. Thanks to the generous support of local schools, area
businesses and caring individuals, the Northbrook-based company has
collected more than 25,000 dresses in the past 10 years, along with
thousands of purses, pieces of jewelry, pairs of shoes and accessories
valued at close to $10 Million – a level that’s sure to be topped in
the coming year!
“Zengeler Cleaners is excited to continue our support for the Glass
Slipper Project for the 2013 collection drive,” said Tom Zengeler,
President of the Midwest’s oldest and largest cleaner. “We’re
extremely proud of our relationship with the Glass Slipper. We
appreciate the enthusiasm and support from the many local schools,
businesses and individuals who are the reason for the success of this
important fundraiser.”
Last year alone, the family-owned cleaners collected approximately
5,200 dresses – the second straight year the Zengeler Cleaners
locations have exceeded 5,000. All eight (8) stores serve as
collection points for the annual event. “We hope to meet or exceed
the 5,000 mark again this year,” continued Zengeler. “We’re already
off to a great start, as many customers have already dropped off items
for next Spring.”
The Glass Slipper Project was founded by women who recognized that
many high school women simply cannot afford the luxury of spending big
dollars for prom, no matter how special that night may be. The
organization distributes the formal dresses and accessories free of
charge to these students at Glass Slipper "boutiques," where each
student receives individual assistance from a volunteer "personal
shopper."
Accessories have become a very popular component of the Glass
Slipper experience. It all leads up to the series of Saturday
shopping opportunities, typically held each Spring in April, allowing
students plenty of time to shop for their own prom dresses. While the
exact location for the annual “shopping days” is different each year,
GSP organizers are confident another new group of needy students will
find their way and attend the 2013 event once the locations are
announced.
